You CAN Do It!

May I preface this post to say that the ONLY reason I share this info is to encourage a reader that they too can save money, and lots of it, if they try!! And maybe it will encourage a fellow couponer to "step it up a notch". Whatever good may come, please know that this is NOT to brag or boast of what I have done. All that I do, I do for God's glory. There is no boasting, here.
With that said, I just calculated my quarterly savings report. Here are my totals since January 1, 2009:

coupon savings: $1506.55 which averages to $502 a month
total savings: $2577.56
Based on spending, my savings percentage is at 69%.

This quarter, I went a step further and narrowed it down by store. Clearly, my greatest saving percentages were at CVS and Walgreens at 83% and 82% respectively.
My goal for this next quarter: lower my oop & increase my savings (isn't that everyone's?).

The best part about it is...YOU too can do it!! In the world of coupon blogs, we all share information so freely and selflessly. So, get busy, set some goals, and have fun watching your savings add up!

Difference in Coupons

I noticed something yesterday as I was filing the recent coupons from Sunday. Now, I bought 4 local papers on Saturday that have the inserts, got one Sunday paper delivered, and then bought 3 more Sunday papers. Usually, the coupons are the same...but not this week. Not only did Sunday's paper have a few extra coupons, like the Hefty bags, but I also noticed a difference in the value. I had never seen this before. The Nestle chocolate chips coupon in Saturday's inserts was $.75 off one package. However, the Sunday's coupon was $1.50 off two. Now, this may seem comparable, but to us who shop at stores that will double coupons up to $1, there is a difference. The $.75 off one, doubled to $1, is a better deal. So, my question to anyone who might have some answers is: why the difference??

FREE gum at Walgreens

Walgreens has Mentos gum on sale 2/$2. Use two $1 cpns from the 3/1 SS insert and they will be FREE! Thanks to Mercedes for this great deal!

FREE gum at Krogers

I stumbled upon a deal today...the single packs of Stride gum are on sale 3/$2. Use the $2/3 cpn from the 3/22 SS and it's FREE!!

Another Recipe

As I've previously posted, I menu plan along w/stock pile to save money. In this week's menu, we are having cheeseburger rollups. Now, some may wonder what that is??? Very simple:

Brown 1 lb. ground chuck/beef
1 can Pillsbury pizza crust (on sale for $.30 at Krogers!!)
Roll out pizza crust to a thin layer. Spread cooked beef over. Top w/shredded cheese (the cheddar I got real cheap recently at Krogers that was in my freezer). Roll up...starting w/ the long side of the crust. Place seam side down. Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour. Slice & serve. Everyone here loves it!

Hope this helps and explains a little in how I combine the 2 methods.

Menu Monday

Monday - Cheeseburger Roll Up
Tuesday - Chicken Pot Pie
Wednesday - Jambalaya
Thursday - Ziti
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - Grill out!
Sunday - Beef enchiladas
